[Text of poem]

One, a confession.

I am a daughter of the coldest sun // a vestige of my mother’s wounds // seeped out silver in her bed of violet miasma // I trembled in every armor assumed // shattered my glass vessel guarding // weathered vagabonds wading the bluest horizon

Machine men, // can you name the demons you conceived? // they ripple inside me, these hollow centipedes // every limb an admission. never an apology // coiling into my ribs and impaling my chest // at midnight I have no choice // except surrender

O Liquid Metal Girl // how I await your return // kneeling in blight the cherry tree heaves // her feeble fists, the spinous buds of pinky violence // in May, her last petal will fall // press herself nameless into ironstone walls // as wings destined not for flight // but to anchor my heart to this shaking earth
